1- Completed projects:

1/1 The geographical encyclopedia of places in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia:

In the year 1414 Hijri, the Saudi Geographical Society began to take scientific steps to implement the Encyclopedia of Geographical Places project, which aims to integrate the geographical gazetteers issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and put them on a single computer program after the Society received generous support from His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Head of the National Guard. And His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh, and the authors of these dictionaries are the editors of this encyclopedia. Three bodies supervise this project: the General Supervision Authority, the Editorial Board, and the Reviewing and Auditing Authority. Thank God, the encyclopedia was launched by a decision of the General Assembly on 1/29/1419 Hijri. The encyclopedia includes records of about 38,000 places in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which have identified the coordinates of 27,341 places. The data of these places were taken from the most famous geographical dictionaries that were written about the Kingdom, and it also includes information about the regions and governorates in which these places are located, and it also includes 13 maps of the Kingdom’s regions in addition to many maps and pictures shown in some places, and the places are divided into 31 groups Such as cities, villages, mountains, valleys....etc. This encyclopedia enables the user to link between many main entrances, such as linking between cities and provinces, regions, dictionaries, or latitude and longitude coordinates. It also enables the user to obtain specific data within the texts of any place.

1/2 Establishment of a map production factory:

A laboratory was established to produce maps using a computer and software. The laboratory-produced automated maps for faculty members and postgraduate students inside and outside the university.

3/1 Production of scientific films:

The Society for the Geography of Saudi Arabia produced a set of scientific films and a recording of lectures and seminars held by the Society and general assemblies. The Society's library also includes a large collection of videotapes donated by His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
