Scientific Lectures

Scientific Lectures:

The Geographical Society organized many lectures in order with a number of geography departments in the universities of the Kingdom. These lectures were as follows:

  1. Lecture “The Experience of Scientific Space Flight and Its Repercussions for Scientific Progress in the Kingdom,” by His Highness King Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, with the participation of Dr. King Saud.

     

  2. Lecture “Fish Resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” by Dr. Nasser bin Othman Al-Saleh, General Manager of the Saudi Fisheries Company, and delivered on Tuesday, 5/23/1416 Hijri, at Umm Al-Qura University.

     

  3. Lecture “The Experience of Scientific Trips to the North and South Poles and Their Scientific Returns for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” by His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, with the participation of Dr. Ibrahim Alam - Undersecretary of the City of Jeddah, and Dr. Mustafa Muammar, a faculty member in the Faculty of Marine Sciences at the University of King Abdul Aziz in Jeddah, and it was held on Tuesday 6/21/1416 Hijri at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University.

     

  4. Lecture “Geography Curricula in the Primary and Intermediate Stages,” by Dr. Abdullah Al-Ajaji, member of the teaching staff in the Curriculum Department - College of Education, King Saud University, on Monday 5/7/1416 Hijri, and delivered at the Teachers College in Jeddah.

     

  5. Lecture “Water Security in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” by Dr. Muhammad Al-Hamad Al-Qunibit, from the Department of Economics, College of Agriculture, King Saud University, on Tuesday 10/16/1416 Hijri. It was delivered at the Department of Geography - King Saud University.

     

  6. Lecture “The Kingdom’s Accession to the World Trade Organization, Stages, and Effects” by His Excellency Dr. Youssef Trad Al-Saadoun - Director General of International Organizations and Authorities at the Ministry of Commerce. And delivered at the Department of Geography, King Saud University on 10/18/1417 Hijri.

     

  7. Lecture “Regional Development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”: Trends and General Education by Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Moshash, Department of Geography, King Abdulaziz University, 11/27/1418 Hijri, and delivered at King Saud University.

     

  8. Lecture “The Urban Strategy for the City of Riyadh: Its Spatial Patterns and Research Dimensions” in coordination with the Department of Geography at King Saud University, by Professor Lindsey Robert Nelson, Professor of Urban Planning and Head of the Center for Developing Cities at the University of Canberra. On 4/1/1420 Hijri, corresponding to 4/20/1999.

     

  9. Lecture “The Impact of Human Activity on Earth’s Climate Change” by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Aroud, a faculty member in the Department of Geography at King Saud University. The lecture was moderated by His Excellency Dr. Fahd bin Muhammad Al-Kulaibi, Scientific Meetings Officer at the Saudi Geographical Society, on Tuesday, 1/8/1420 Hijri.

     

  10. Lecture “Behavioral Analysis of Industrial Sites in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Available Possibilities and Prospects” by Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Hamid Mukhass, a faculty member in the Department of Geography at King Abdulaziz University. The dialogue was moderated by Dr. Fahd bin Muhammad Al-Kulaibi, Scientific Meetings Officer at the Saudi Geographical Society, on the day of Tuesday, 8/15/1420 Hijri.

     

  11. Lecture “Geographical Thought in Climatology at the French School” by Dr. Jihad bin Muhammad Qarba, a faculty member at King Saud University. The dialogue was moderated by Dr. Fahd bin Muhammad Al-Kulaibi, Scientific Meetings Officer at the Saudi Geographical Society, on Tuesday 12/29/1420 Hijri.

     

  12. Lecture “A Stone Site Between Two Different Opinions” in which His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Mahmoud Muhammadin (Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University) and Mr. Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Shaya (Secretary-General of the Board of Directors of the General Organization for Social Insurance - previously), participated in the Prince Salman Social Center, The meeting was moderated by His Excellency Dr. Fahd bin Muhammad Al-Kulaibi, Scientific Meetings Officer at the Saudi Geographical Society, on Tuesday 10/21/1421 Hijri.

     

  13. The lecture “The Role of Sheikh Hamad Al-Jasser in Caring for Geographical Heritage,” in which His Excellency Professor Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdul Latif Al Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Geographical Society, and His Excellency Professor Dr. Muhammad Shawqi bin Ibrahim Makki, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Geographical Society, participated. Which was held at the Research Center, College of Arts and Humanities, King Abdulaziz University, on Wednesday, 12/22/1422 Hijri.

     

  14. Lecture “The Rooting of Geographical Names in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” which was delivered by His Excellency Professor Muhammad bin Saad Al-Shahrani, which was held in Hall 153a, Department of Geography, College of Arts, King Saud University, on 3/2/1423 Hijri.

     

  15. Lecture “Space Research Institute and its Role in Geographical Studies,” which was delivered by His Highness Prince Dr. Turki bin Saud bin Muhammad Al Saud, supervisor of the Space Research Institute in King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, which was held in Sheikh Hamad Al-Jasser Hall, King Saud University, on 24/1/1424 Hijri.

     

  16. Lecture “Applications of Geographic Information Systems in the Study of Services,” which was delivered by Professor Mustafa Abdul Qadir Makki, Head of the Earth Science Information Systems Department at the Saudi Geological Survey, on 1/20/1426 Hijri, at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University. The lecture came in cooperation with the Geological Survey Saudi Arabia.

     

  17. Lecture “Dahul and Caves in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” delivered by His Excellency Dr. Mustafa bin Muhammad Hariri, from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, on 8/23/1426 Hijri, at the College of Arts for Girls in Dammam.

     

  18. Lecture “Natural Hazards in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” which was delivered by His Excellency Dr. William Makram Shehata of the Saudi Geological Survey, on 1/11/1426 Hijri, at the College of Arts and Human Sciences, King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. The lecture was a collaboration between the Saudi Geographical Society and the Survey Authority. Saudi Geological Survey, King Abdulaziz University.

     

  19. Lecture “Integrative National Analysis of Some Problems of the Saudi Manufacturing Industry: A Proposed Study Model,” delivered by His Excellency Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Hamid Mukhass from the Department of Geography at King Abdulaziz University on 11/16/1426 Hijri, at the College of Social Sciences at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University.

     

  20. Lecture “The Geographical Distribution of Minerals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” delivered by His Excellency Professor Ghazi bin Jamil bin Saleh Abdul Hay, from the Saudi Geological Survey, on 11/18/1426 Hijri, at the Department of Geography, College of Arts, King Saud University.

     

  21. Lecture “The Geographical and Environmental Characteristics of the Jazan Region,” delivered by His Excellency Prof. Dr. Ali bin Muhammad Shaiban Al-Arishi, on Tuesday, 30 Shawwal 1427 Hijri, at the Literary Club in Jazan.

     

  22. Lecture “Flags and Borders of the Noble Sanctuary of Mecca,” delivered by Dr. Khadran bin Khader Al-Thubaiti, a faculty member in the Department of Geography at Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.

     

  23. Lecture “Promoting sustainable development in the teaching of geography in general education:” Lusarne Declaration, delivered by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shawqi bin Ibrahim Makki, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Geographical Society, in the training hall at the Ministry of Education, on Tuesday 1/11/1430 Hijri(corresponding to 10/20/2009), at ten in the morning.

     

  24. Lecture “Geomatics,” delivered by Iyad bin Hakam Fadda, a faculty member at King Saud University, in cooperation with the Department of Geography at King Saud University, on 10/1/1431 Hijri, at the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Learning at King Saud University (for men), and the Sayyida Aisha Hall in the Center University studies for girls in Elaysha (for women).

     

  25. Lecture “Facing Natural Hazards” delivered by Prof. Dr. Ibrahim bin Suleiman Al-Ahaidib, from the Department of Geography at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University. The lecture was held at the Prince Salman Social Center in Riyadh, on 1/23/1431 Hijri. 

     

  26. Lecture on “Reviving Handicrafts to Support Tourism and Rural Development: Soapstone Artifacts in Wadwakh as a Model.” The lecture was delivered by Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman Al-Faris, from the Department of Geography at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University. The seminar was held in Hall (7a) at King Saud University on 3/13/ 1431 Hijri, and the lecture was transferred to the Hall of Mrs. Khadija at the University Studies Center for Girls,
    3/13/1431 Hijri.

     

  27. The “Climate Changes” lecture was delivered by Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman Al-Misnad, from the Department of Geography at Qassim University. The lecture was held in the main hall of the College of Social Sciences at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University on 11/24/1431 Hijri.

     

  28. Lecture “National Urban Observatory: Policies and Indicators.” The lecture was delivered by Dr. Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Jutili, from the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs. The lecture was held on 3/25/1432 Hijri, at the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Learning, King Saud University, and it was transferred. The lecture was delivered to Mrs. Khadija Hall at the University Studies Center for Girls.

     

  29. Lecture on “Electrical Efficiency and its Relationship to Global Warming,” which was delivered by Dr. Anbara bint Khamis bin Bilal, from the Department of Geography at King Saud University, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Geographical Society. The lecture was held on 5/19/1432 Hijri, at Al-Jeel Private Schools for Girls in Riyadh.

     

  30. Lecture “The Reason for the Failure of Education Students in the Geographical Olympiad.” The lecture was delivered by Professor Abdul Karim bin Ishq Al-Khamshi, from the Ministry of Education, and it was moderated by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shaalan, from the Department of Geography at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University. The lecture was held on 17/1/1433 Hijriin, the hall Chairwoman, College of Social Sciences, Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University.

     

  31. Lecture: Flood management in the metropolitan city of Jeddah using satellite technologies and geographic information systems. The lecture was delivered by Professor Dr. Mashael bint Muhammad Al Saud, from the Department of Geography at King Saud University. The lecture was held on 3/15/1433 Hijri, in the Hall of Mrs. Aisha at the University Studies Center for Girls. King Saud University, and the episode was transmitted via the TV network to Hall (2) in the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Learning at King Saud University (for men).

     

  32. Lecture: “Food Security in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.” The lecture was delivered by Dr. Safaa bint Subh Sabbahah, a faculty member at the University of Hail. The lecture was held on May 25, 1433 Hijri, in Mrs. Khadija Hall at the University Studies Center for Girls at King Saud University. The episode was transmitted via the TV network to Hall (2) in the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Learning at the University King Saud (for men).

     

  33. Lecture: “Geological Risks.” The lecture was delivered by His Excellency Dr. Zuhair bin Abdul Hafeez Nawab, Chairman of the Saudi Geological Survey. The lecture was held on 6/16/1433 Hijri, in Hall (7A) at King Saud University (for men), and the Sayyidah Fatima Hall in the Center for Studies. College for Girls in Ulaysha at King Saud University (for women).

     

  34. Lecture: “The International Borders of the Federal States.” The lecture was delivered by Her Excellency Dr. Hessa bint Saif Al-Saif, from Princess Noura University. The lecture was held on 18/1/1434 Hijri, at the Literary Club in Riyadh.

     

  35. Lecture: “Saudi relations and the European Union: the current situation and future options.” The lecture was delivered by Dr. Valentina Kostadinova. E-learning 2A11, Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Learning, King Saud University (for men).

     

  36. Lecture: “The objectives and results of King Saud University’s participation in the scientific expedition to the South Pole.” Prof. Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Laaboun, from the Department of Geology, College of Science, King Saud University, delivered the lecture. The lecture was held on May 28, 1434 Hijri, in Hall (7A). King Saud University.

     

  37. Lecture: “Strengthening the values ​​of academic integrity (in coordination with the Department of Geography). The lecture was delivered by Dr. Mufleh bin Rabi’an Al-Qahtani, and the lecture was held on 6/6/1434 Hijriin Hall (7a) at King Saud University.

     

  38. Lecture: “Educational and health services for micro-villages in the Saudi countryside: the western region as a model.” The lecture was delivered by: Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Mukhass, from the Department of Geography at King Abdulaziz University. The lecture was held on 5/7/1434 Hijri, at the Cultural Club in Al-Ghat.

     

  39. Lecture: “Analyzing Morphometric Information Using Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems in Wadi El Gemal Basin, Red Sea Coast-Egypt.” The lecture was delivered by: Dr. Mahmoud bin Khalid Dowidar, from the Department of Geography at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University. The lecture was held on 12/26/1434 Hijri, in Hall (7A) at King Saud University.

     

  40. Lecture: “Taima Landmarks between Geography and History,” delivered by Prof. Dr. Hamid bin Musa Al-Khatib, a faculty member in the Department of Geography at Taibah University, on Wednesday 1/24/1435 Hijri (corresponding to 11/27/2013), at ten in the morning.   41. Lecture: “Geographical Technologies and Community Services: Applied Examples in the Field of Crime Prevention, Flood Prevention, and Urban Planning,” delivered by Dr. Fang Qiu, Head of the Department of Geographic Information Sciences, University of Texas, USA, on Thursday 1/25/1435 Hijri (corresponding to 28 / 11 / 2013), at ten o'clock in the morning.   42.   48. The documentary film was shown: “We Discovered America Before Columbus,” with the participation of Dr. Khaled bin Ali Abu Al-Khair. The screening took place in the auditorium of the College of Arts at King Saud University, on Tuesday, 1/21/1437 Hijri (corresponding to 11/3/2015).

  54. Lecture: “Fossils in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the efforts of the Saudi Geological Survey,” delivered by Eng. Yahya bin Abdullah Al Mufreh, in the auditorium of the College of Arts, King Saud University, on Tuesday, 7/26/1437 Hijri (corresponding to 5/3/2016).

Lecture: Transportation and Society Research: Can We Help, delivered by Prof. Wafaa Saleh, in the auditorium of the College of Arts at King Saud University (for men), and auditorium (3) in the university city for female students at King Saud University, on 6/24/1438 Hijri (corresponding to 3/23/2017).

     

  60. A scientific lecture entitled: “Comprehensive solutions to realistic work challenges through integration between geographic systems technologies and remote sensing sciences”, in which Eng. Wael Sultan from Atheeb Intergraph Company, and Eng. Noman Ahmed from Geographical Systems Company participated, on Monday, 16/7/1439 Hijri (corresponding to April 2, 2018), at 10:30 a.m., in the auditorium of the College of Arts (for men), and the hall of the College of Arts in the University City for female students at King Saud University in Riyadh (for women).

     

  61. A scientific lecture entitled: Urban Indicators for the City of Riyadh 1438 Hijri, delivered by Eng. Muhammad bin Saeed Al-Ahmari, Director of the Information Services Unit at the Higher Authority for the Development of Riyadh, on Monday, 8/14/1439 Hijri (corresponding to 4/30/2018), at 10:30 in the morning in the auditorium.   62. A scientific lecture entitled: “Learning Difficulties Among University Students,” which will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Ibrahim bin Saad Abunayan, from the Department of Special Education, College of Education, King Saud University, on Monday 14/1/1440 Hijri (corresponding to 9/24/2018).
