Professional group rules

Introduction:

Specialized groups are established in the Saudi Geographical Society for the purpose of activating the existing geographical expertise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to study the natural and human phenomena that affect the Kingdom in order to identify and use local, regional, or global foundations, concepts and theories while working to track changes in the composition and distribution of those phenomena and their spatial and economic systems. Social, political, and cultural. Professional groups may cooperate with similar groups internationally as permitted by regulations.

Article One: Group Name: Specialized groups shall be established in the Saudi Geographical Society as follows:

1- The specialized group for population and urban studies.

2- The Climate and the Environment Group

3- The specialized group for planning, development, and resources.

4- A group of maps and geographic information systems.

5- A group of contemporary issues (geography teaching curricula, contemporary geographical problems).

6- The specialized group of geomorphology.

7- Any other groups (after the approval of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Geographical Society).

Article Two: Group Headquarters:

 The Saudi Geographical Society in Riyadh, or any of the geography departments in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has a majority of specialists in a particular geographical field.

Article Three: Objectives:

A- Follow-up on all new developments in the field of specialization.

B- Encouraging geographical research in the field of specialization related to the structure and dynamics of the phenomenon under study, problems and policies, theoretical approaches, and local and global comparisons.

C- Deepening communication and cooperation between members of the specialized group as well as specialists outside the group.

D- Monitor changes in information, curricula, and programs locally and internationally.

Article Four: Activities:

A- Creating a special geographic, informatics, and cartographic database or linking to other information based on the specialization.

B- Creating pages for specialized groups within the association's website.

C- Printing booklets on specialized applications for groups (authoring or translating).

D- Organizing specialized meetings and workshops for decision-makers and relevant institutions.

E- Providing advice on topics related to specialization.

F- Applying modern tools to specialization studies. (remote sensing, geographic information systems, automated maps, quantitative methods).

H- Coordinating participation in meetings, seminars, and conferences related to the specialization.

J- Create follow-up rules by collecting data and applying some indicators.

K- Adding any activities related to each specialized group (after the approval of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Geographical Society).

Article Five: Membership:

1- Membership is divided into two categories:

A- Ordinary membership: in which the members who are specialists or interested in the subject of the group join the group from among the members of the Saudi Geographical Society, based on a request submitted to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Geographical Society, or the head of the group.

B- Honorary Membership: Members (individuals or institutions) can join from outside the Saudi Geographical Society and outside the geography specialization who have local or international contributions to the specialization.

2- Membership lasts for four years, renewable.

3- Membership ends at the end of the association's fiscal year.

Article Six: Group Management:

1- The members choose from among themselves a chairperson for the group for a period of three years, subject to renewal.

2- The members choose a secretary from among themselves for a renewable two-year term.

3- The group holds its meetings at least once a month, and other meetings can be held whenever necessary.

4- The decisions of the group are issued by the majority of the votes of those present, and when equal, the vote of the president is casting weight, and these decisions do not become effective except with the approval of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Geographical Society.

5- One quarterly meeting is held for all groups or their rapporteurs, in which reports on the outcome of the activities of these groups are discussed.

6- The group's projects are determined either by the initiative of the members of the group or by referral from the Board of Directors of the Saudi Geographical Society.

7- Scientific communication meetings are adopted through electronic media.

Article Seven: Functions of the Group Chair:

1- Calling for periodic meetings.

2- Chaired the group's meetings and follows up on the implementation of its recommendations and decisions.

3- Reporting to the Board of Directors the recommendations, activities, and projects of the group.

4- The head of the group is responsible and the spokesperson for it, and he is the link between the board of directors and the members of the group.

Article Eight: Functions of the Secretary:

1- Organizing and saving group files.

2- Writing quarterly and annual reports for the group's business.

3-Follow up on group correspondence.

Article Nine: Group Resources:

1- What the association allocates - in the narrowest limits - from its budget to carry out some of the group's work.

2- Gifts, donations, grants, aid, and agreements that are presented and concluded with the group to implement some related projects.
