Publication Rules
First: Basic Rules:
1- The research that is published by the “Arab Journal of Geographic Information Systems” takes into account scientific originality, the correctness of the scientific output, and the soundness of the language. Submitting the research to the journal grants it the right to publish.
2- The research submitted to the journal must not have been previously published, and the journal has the right to cancel the publication of any research that appears to have been published or submitted for publication in another publishing channel.
3- The research should be sent on behalf of the editor-in-chief of the Arab Journal of Geographic Information Systems.
4- The research is presented in a digital format printed on (CD) printed with MS WORD windows environments, and one line space is left between each line and another in Al-Hotham font for the text and in Monotype Koufi font for titles, and 16 white font for the text, and 12 white font for the margins, And a black font for Quranic verses and noble hadiths, and three copies printed on A4 paper, bearing in mind that the copies are on one side, and the maximum limit for the search is (32) pages or (8000) words, and the minimum is (15) pages that include tables, figures and references …etc.
5- For text in English, the text should be 12 points in size, in Times Roman font in one column and in one format, and one line space should be left between each line and another in the entire research, taking into account that the right and left margins are not less than 3 cm each.
6- The original research shall be sent with two copies and a summary of (250) words in both Arabic and English.
7- It should be considered that the shapes are presented in digital form and displayed on a computer using the Adobe Photoshop program or in ESO or TIFF format. Provided that the minimum resolution of the images is 300 pixels, the size is 120 x 180 mm, and the colored figures are in RGB format. The figures are rendered in black and white in a grayscale format.
8- The researcher sends an amount (700 Saudi riyals or its equivalent) for the research approved by the editorial board before sending it for arbitration to cover some publishing costs, and the journal welcomes the researchers’ apology for publishing their research when necessary.
9- Publishable research selected by the editorial board shall be sent to two arbitrators - at least - in the field of specialization from inside or outside the Kingdom before publishing it in the journal.
10- The editorial board of the journal informs the research owners of the date of receiving their research. As well as informing them of the final decision regarding the acceptance of the research for publication or not.
11- Research, book reviews, and reports will not be returned to their authors, whether published or not.
12- Each researcher or principal investigator of a group of researchers participating in the research shall be granted twenty-five copies of the published research.
13- The rules for referring to sources are applied according to the following:
The (name/date) system is used. This system requires referring to the source of the information in the text in parentheses with the author's name, followed by the date and page number. If the same author is repeated in two different references, the author's name is mentioned, followed by the year of the reference, then the page number. As for the list of references, it must be arranged alphabetically according to the quality of the source as follows:
Books:
The last name of the author (the first author if the reference has more than one author) is mentioned, followed by the first name, then the year of publication in parentheses, then the title of the book, the edition number - if any - then the publisher, and finally the city of publication.
Periodicals:
The author's family name is mentioned, followed by the first name, then the year of publication in parentheses, then the title of the article, then the title of the periodical, then the volume number, then the issue number, then the page numbers of the article (pp. 5-15).
Edited books:
The author's family name is mentioned followed by the first name, then the year of publication in parentheses, then the chapter title, then writes (in ) underlined, then the editor's family name followed by the first names, as well as for the co-editors, then ( ed . editor or eds editors ). Then the title of the book, then the volume number, the edition number, and finally, the publisher, then the city of publication.
Unpublished messages:
The author's family name is mentioned, followed by the first name, then the year of obtaining the degree in parentheses, then the title of the thesis, then the type of the thesis (Master's/Ph.D.), then the name of the university and the city in which it is located.
As for the margins, they are used only when absolutely necessary and are allocated for notes and applications of value in clarifying the text. Many word processors build footnotes to the text, and this feature can be used.
Second: the search order:
Title: Enter a short title (no more than 15 words) and informative, avoiding abbreviations and mathematical formulas where possible.
Authors' names and affiliations: State authors' names clearly. Show author affiliations in the footnote with an asterisk.
AUTHOR OF THE INTERVIEW: The author is clearly indicated in the footnote for those who are willing to handle correspondence at all stages of review and publication and also after the research has been published. The author's full mailing address, including the country name, telephone number (with area and country codes), and email address, may be provided.
Abstract: Each paper should include information summarized from 100 to 250 words in 10-point font size. The abstract should explain important information relevant to the paper's purpose, method, results, and conclusions. Non-standard or unfamiliar abbreviations should be avoided.
Keywords: Five keywords should be listed after the abstract.
Introduction: The introduction outlines the objectives of the work, providing sufficient background, avoiding including a detailed study of the literature or a summary of the findings.
Previous Studies: Provide a summary of previous studies and their most important findings, with reference to the difference between this study and those studies.
Methodology: The research design and methodology must be clearly defined.
Results: Results should be clear and concise.
Discussion and Conclusion: This section should present the significance of the findings of this work. A combination of “discussion and results” is often appropriate. The main conclusions of the study can be presented in a section on “Conclusions,” which may be presented on its own or as a subsection of the discussion section.
Conclusion: includes clear points that highlight the most important findings of the study from the reality of the discussion (this part may include specific recommendations, and it is not preferable to give them a special title).
Acknowledgments: Acknowledgments, including information on grants, should be placed before the reference list in a separate section.
References: Please ensure that each reference cited in the text is also included in the reference list (and vice versa). The references mentioned here should follow the system followed by the Saudi Geographical Society, which was previously explained in Article 12 of the publishing rules.
Citations in the text: Please ensure that each reference cited in the text is also included in the bibliography (and vice versa).
List of References: References should be arranged alphabetically and then sorted chronologically if necessary. If more than one reference is found by the same author in the same year, it must be identified by the letters “a,” “b,” “c,” etc., which are placed after the year of publication.
Appendices: Appendices should be placed at the end of the manuscript, after the list of references. In studies involving the development of measurement criteria, emphasis should be placed on the placement of the measurement instrument in the main text or in the appendices.
Author Biography: Mention a brief biography of the author or authors (no more than one page) after the appendices.
The role of each researcher in joint studies: The role of each researcher in the following aspects must be explained at the bottom of the first page of the research :
1- Who is the owner of the research idea.
2- Who formulated the research.
3- The one who did the linguistic or editorial review and proofreading.
4- The person who prepared and extracted the data.
5- The one who did the theoretical and statistical analysis, if any.
6- The person who undertook the publication request (and if more than one researcher participated in one of the previous aspects, the percentage of each researcher’s addition and the scope of this addition should be determined ).
